Grantmaking isn’t the only way funders can make a difference.
In developing our program framework, the New Mexico Association of Grantmaker’s Board of Directors found it helpful to focus on the three strategic areas where funders can act to change, influence and help improve human conditions in the communities we serve.
- Funders as effective grantmakers can support innovative ways to address local problems.
- Funders as community investors can provide capital and other financial investments that align with their mission to build the local economy and create community wealth.
- Funders as community citizens can leverage change through nonfinancial means, by building cooperation or bringing attention to issues, such as equity, which might be misunderstood or unnoticed.
